Humans, it has been said by Aristotle, are political animals, and politics has traditionally been regarded as a manly pursuit. Muslims, believing in a theocracy (or perhaps an Islamic version of Plato's Philosopher King), regard politics as more than that. As well as a manly pursuit, it is also a godly pursuit, with the goal of making the world a better place, in this life, through laws framed according to Islamic principles.
Substitute "Islamic" for "Democratic", "Liberal", "Conservative", "Socialist", "Communist" etc and you will where the trouble lies - the eternal philosophical argument about What is Good which will forever vex us as long as intelligent life exists. Asking ourselves such questions as What is Good, What is Good Government and How to Get Good Government is, however, the only way to stop ourselves from being distracted by more seductive questions, such as, for example, How To Be and Remain In Power, which is what mostly preoccupies our current government and its dishonourable opposition.
To the single women reading this, they should be aware that those of them who join will be significantly outnumbered by the men. It is obvious (but still needs to be pointed out) that knowing a man's political views will yield more information about his character and sense of honour than merely dating him ...
Therefore make of this space what you will - it is a forum, it is a community, it is a network of politically-interested people who have agreed to disagree by debating, who will use ideas, arguments and facts - not abuse, violence and bombs.
Perhaps through this process we will have a better idea of what we are and what we really want, and whether it is actually good for us ...

It is suggested that members use a gender-neutral as well as a racially, religiously and culturally inconclusive username. People assume all sorts of things about you because of your age, gender, race or religion. Let us all be judged the validity and appeal of our ideas and opinions, not by stereotypes others impose on us
"Unparliamentary" language: The bottom line here is that No swearing is permitted. You can be rude and dismissive of others’ opinions in more elegant ways. Otherwise, your membership will be cancelled once the offending message is forwarded to the Operator, read and deemed unworthy of membership. Obscene and abusive remarks short of swearing also come under this heading. We are Nice People here!
Members are encouraged to nominate others whom they think are Adept At Arguing ("AAA") with a reference to the relevant sentence/paragraph/message/topic where AAA potential was noted. The Members who have the most nominations will be listed prominently. You may not nominate yourself!
Members are encouraged to look at the poll questions and vote regularly. The answers will form a large of the "personality" of this website. It hopes to reflect British public opinion without fear of favour. Fringe party issues of both "Right" and "Left" will be addressed, but the intention is to bring in people of all persuasions who are dissatisfied with the way the country is being run and think they have better ideas.
