Did anybody posting here actually paste the link and have a look for themselves? Instead of having your standard rant about your personal dislikes! Perfect example from Dignitas "I think we are all too aware that this is a familiar tactic the Labour government have been using for years in order to lessen our national identity amongst the public therefore allowing an easier transition into full EU amalgamation." The book in question is published by the Oxford University Press, not the Labour Government. Anslem also blames them and the education system!? The publisher is a private company. At least we can agree it's wrong and rather strange. The missing words should also be reinstated, that's fair to say. Debate not rant.

Obviously not all the words in the English language could be included in the junior dictionary but some of those left out are very basic. It is political correction again, of course, which leads to such absurdity.

I think first we should ask WHY are have these words been retracted from the dictionary (youth)? and by who's direct decision? I think we are all too aware that this is a familiar tactic the Labour government have been using for years in order to lessen our national identity amongst the public therefore allowing an easier transition into full EU amalgamation. Is it thought not to be 'cool' with 'da youf of 2day' to appear to be British, have traditional values, to be Christian? or is this some liberal wet-dream of someone with the idea that this is a piece of genius that will make for better acceptance and understanding of Multiculturalism(TM)?

I'm glad I started my primary education under the Tories and the Nu Labour effect didn't arrive until about 2 years before I left. I want to know what some of the definitions of these new words are, especially "tolerant", "citizenship", "common sense", "EU". Some of the words taken out are a shocking example of how low education is going here - and I'm feeling the effects of it - there's too much of having to "teach yourself" instead of having the teacher teach you - and if this dictionary is being modified this way it'll hardly help. What's wrong with the words they've taken out, why have they been taken out, and why have so many Christian words been taken out? It's truly shocking and just a blatant symbol of the mess Nu Labour have done of the education system here.

Clearly the new version cannot claim to be a dictionary if basic words (eg bacon) are omitted, consequently a breach of trade desciption?
